Junior Master Naturalist Series
Forestry for Youth
Junior Master Naturalist Forestry for Youth classroom presentation is geared for elementary and middle school children to share the natural world through its fauna and flora. The program includes a presentation of examples (taxidermy) forest animals, typical flora found in forests, and information on living in harmony with nature. The presentation is one hour long and is presented by a certified Master Naturalist. The service area is limited to the following Alabama counties: Bullock, Montgomery, Pike, and Macon.
All the Water You Will Ever Have
The Junior Master Naturalist All the Water You Will Ever Have classroom presentation is geared for elementary and middle school children teaching the fundamentals of good water conservation and hygiene. It includes a one-hour presentation with hands-on activities on various properties of water and how to conserve and protect potable water. The service area is limited to the following Alabama counties: Bullock, Montgomery, Pike, and Macon.

Who we fund
Our grants are generally seed grants and, in some cases sustaining grants for established programs. In order to maximize our grant investments, we have guidelines that limit the grants to $10,000 or less to a single grantee. While some grants may be considered which exceed this amount, they must present a clear and compelling need that is recognized and aligned with the Foundation goals.

Eligible Grantees
The Foundation operates exclusively for the benefit of, and to promote the charitable and educational purposes of, educational organizations, including secondary schools, elementary schools, and other organizations which are described in IRC Section 501(c)(3) which espouse an educational intent or program.
The Foundation’s activities include making grants to the charities it supports and providing services to those organizations. The Foundation only supports charities that are organized in the United States. The Foundation does not support individuals and does not fund capital campaigns, endowments, scholarships or fellowships, debt reduction or cash reserves, building construction or renovation, and certain indirect costs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of grants do you make?
Our grants are used for seeding innovative programs educating children in the environment, communication and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). We also consider sustaining grants for innovative programs and existing programs depending on the purpose and the impact on children. Particular preference is given to programs addressing children most at risk.
Do you accept exploratory letters of intention for a grant submission?
Yes we do. It is best to use the checklist on the grants page to formulate a letter of intent for review as to the potential of your particular program receiving consideration for funding.
Can I receive a grant directly as an individual?
No. We only issue grants to non-profits as defined in the IRC Section 501(c) (3)?
Can money be given to an eligible organization to support individuals?
Yes if the purpose and intent of the organization’s use of the funds meets the requirements under the grant policies.
I submitted a grant and have not heard anything back.
We do not send letters of acknowledgement on receipt of a grant application. Grants are reviewed once a quarter and you will be notified after the grant review of the status of your application.
How do you schedule your classroom programs?
Programs are booked on a first come first served basis and only in the following Alabama counties: Bullock, Montgomery, Pike, and Macon. All programs are subject to the availability of a Master Naturalist to provide the instruction.
